Jinhai Heavy Industry (JHI), a shipyard affiliated with China’s HNA Group, expects to deliver its first 8,800 teu container ship newbuilds and a jackup offshore construction vessel within 2015, a statement of the yard said on 25 June. The box ships’ owner is SinOceanic Shipping, according to IHS Maritime’s Sea-web.com. SinOceanic Shipping has 10 same-class box ships under construction at JHI. In addition, the shipyard delivered Tianjin, the third of its first batch of very large crude carrier (VLCC) newbuildings on 25 June, said the yard. The VLCC was delivered to HNA Group International, according to IHS Maritime’s Sea-web.com. The delivery of Tianjin followed that of Shanghai, which was delivered on 6 June. JHI still has two same-class VLCCs launched and waiting for deliveries, according to IHS Maritime’s Sea-web.com. As of 25 June, the yard has a total of 19 newbuildings under construction, including box ships, bulk carriers, offshore vessels, and crude tankers.
