2015-06-09
Greek shipowner Thenamaris has boosted its existing orderbook by adding four tanker newbuildings at two Asian shipyards. It has contracted two LR2 products tankers at South Korea's Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, which will follow on from four ships of the same specification ordered last year. The latest 115,000dwt ships are due for delivery in 2017. As well, Thenamaris has doubled a two-ship Aframax order at Japanese shipbuilder Sumitomo Heavy Industries. The latest 112,00dwt ships, which are options tied to the original contract placed in March, are due for delivery in the first half of 2018. Meanwhile, Thenamaris is reported to have recently signed a letter of intent with Hyundai HI of South Korea for a pair of VLCCs with delivery in the second quarter of 2017.
