| Vard launches new innovation project |
| Singapore-listed offshore vessels designer and shipbuilder, Vard Holdings has launched a new innovation project in ship design. The project, named ‘A step forward’, are design innovations developed with an emphasis on safety, user-friendliness, functionality, operability, cost optimisation, fuel economy, and environmental performance. Three of Vard’s specialised companies, Vard Accommodation, Vard Electro, and Vard Design, have collaborated with designer Per Ivar Selvaag from Montaag, a design agency, to develop a range of products and concepts. The new concept design caters a cockpit bridge with a compact, purposeful, and focused environment that boasts a 360° view of the ocean, allowing the captain to have a panoramic view of the ship operation. Moreover, the new design concept also separates the cockpit bridge and operations decks to provide ample spaces for the crew and clients without interrupting the captain. In addition, the new and unique SeaQ Cabin is designed to add a sense of privacy, arranged to increase the quality of recreation, with working areas and leisure areas logically placed and separated from each other, all to ensure a well-rested crew. The innovation project is exhibited in the maritime exhibition Nor-Shipping in Oslo, Norway. Meanwhile, Vard’s board of directors has appointed Pier Francesco Ragni as a member of the Remuneration Committee in place of Giuseppe Bono with effect from 1 June 2015. Thus, with the new appointment, the company’s Remuneration Committee will consist of Sung Hyon Sok, chairman and independent director of Vard; Keen Whye Lee, lead independent director; and Pier Francesco Ragni, non-executive director. |
