New Times Shipbuilding is expected to win BHP five units LNG power Newcastlemax orders

Jiangsu New Times Shipbuilding is took by mining giants BHP total value of $330 million five type LNG power Newcastlemax bulk orders, this will be the first to build LNG in the New Times shipbuilding power bulk carrier. Is also a New Times for the first time into the LNG ship shipbuilding construction market.

Singapore owner"s Eastern Pacific (EPS) with New Times Shipbuilding has signed a Letter of Intent to build five 208,000 deadweight tons of LNG power Newcastlemax. The new ships delivery from 2022. EPS chose a high pressure ME-GI engine designed by MAN Energy Solutions, which costs $2 million more than a standard LNG powered main engine. The LNG Newcastlemax model bulk carrier is estimated to cost about $66 million each.

July of Last year, BHP launched a tender to lease up to 14 new LNG - powered Newcastlemax bulk carriers with 210,000 deadweight tonnes for 15 years to carry iron ore from Australia to China, which would be the world"s largest LNG bulk carrier. Earlier this year, however, BHP had already cut the size of the project from 14 to just five vessels, with leases cut to five years from 15.

This is the second time EPS has ordered LNG - powered Newcastlemax bulk carrier. At the end of last year, the company placed an order to build 2+3 Newcastlemax bulk carriers with 209,000 deadweight tons of LNG powered in Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS). This is the world"s first dual-fuel Newcastlemax bulk carrier construction contract.
