| Samsung HI clinches Statoil platform orders |
| Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has clinched orders for Statoil’s Sverdrup Topside project, as analysts predicted. South Korea’s second biggest shipbuilder said in a Korea Exchange filing on 30 June that it has clinched two platforms related to the project. The contract is worth about USD1.05 billion and the platforms are expected to be delivered by 12 December 2018. The deal takes SHI’s year-to-date sales to USD 11.5 billion. Analysts believed that SHI’s specialisation in offshore plants and drillships would give it an edge over Hyundai HI and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, which also bid for the Statoil project. |
