| Western Marine wins Jindal order |
| Bangladeshi shipbuilder Western Marine Shipyard has won an order from India’s Jindal Steel for up to 10 general cargo vessels. Delhi-based Jindal cancelled its previous fleet renewal plans in 2009 but they appear to have been revitalised with this six-firm-plus-four-options order, which is worth about USD61.25 million. Delivery of the first six newbuildings is scheduled for the next 18 months, with the options to be confirmed on the successful completion of the initial six. The first two vessels in the order are being financed by Bank Asia. |
