| HHIC delays deliveries of Capesizes, box ship |
| South Korean shipbuilder Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction (HHIC) will be deferring the delivery of two Capesize bulkers and one container ship. HHIC made the revelations in Korea Exchange filings on 2 June. The Capesizes, worth KRW 116.9 billion (USD105.6 million) and the container ship, worth KRW86.7 billion, were ordered on 25 October 2013. The Capesizes, Mehmed Faith and Vittoria, were to be delivered by July. The delivery will be deferred to 28 August. The container ship was to have been delivered by 31 May but the date has been pushed back to 24 July. It did not reveal the customers' identity but said the owner of the two Capesizes is a Turkish company, while the owner of the container ship is a Liberia-registered company. IHS Maritime's Sea-web.com data suggest the owner is Ciner Ship Management. The data also show that Greek owner Cape Shipping ordered two 6,900 teu container ships from HHIC around October 2013 and are the vessels due for delivery in June and November 2015. |
